On social media-oriented sites, such as Twitter and Facebook, a hashtag is a word or phrase preceded by a hash or pound sign (#) and used to identify messages on a specific topic.

On Portfolium, students add hashtags as keywords to describe portfolio entries.
Examples: #group-project #GraphicDesign #Nanoparticles(to denote a group project) or #MAT-285-Fall-2015 (to denote that a project was completed as part of a course MAT 285, during Fall Semester of 2015.

Hashtags show up on the right side of the entry in the section labeled Tags.
